Mail over de Verdwenen Chandeliers in de Oranje Zaal van Huis Ten Bosch in Nagasaki, Japan | Crippled

Dear Mr Rob Scholte,

Hereby I am writing to you because recently I received an unfortunate video update of our collaborative art piece “Après Nous Le Deluge“ in the Oranje Zael of HTB city in Nagasaki, Japan. With astonishment and shock, I saw the work has been deliberately Disfigured. At no time were you or I consulted about these changes made by the HTB, which is very concerning for us as professional artists.
Below I have taken the time to outline the inaccuracies of our art piece. They are as follows

• Missing are four bronzed traffic light chandeliers which are very important to the overall art piece.
• There is A ring of cheap looking black spotlights lighting the wall painting.
• The four benches are placed in the middle of the room instead of their original location along the walls.
• The bicycle pump fences, which were designed to keep your wall painting from being damaged by the public, appear to be missing.

The video footage I saw is short therefore, I was unable to clearly see the other bronze ornaments. Where are the 2 different bronze door handles, the hinges, and the door mechanisms? Are they still in use in the Oranje Zael?

It has been 22 years since the completion of HTB city of the art piece. At the grand opening, the honorable Mr Kamichica, officially stated, that HTB would protect and preserve our art piece for the next 500 years. It appears that this has not happened and I am very concerned about the lack of understanding and respect for which the art piece was created.

The audience visiting the Oranje Zael now is seeing ACrippled” art piece, which is definitely not the way we created it. I propose that we contact the current HTB staff and ask them why they made these changes.
Please keep me informed about this very unpleasant status of our art piece. Possibly would the HTB staff invite us to come to HTB city so we can correct the art piece to its original state? I would like to discuss, with the current HTB staff, how our art piece can be conserved for the next 478 years. Waiting for your response.

With friendly greetings,

HARALD VLUGT
