Published 28 okt 2023

Sean Munger

Between 1905 and 1922, Five of the World’s Most Powerful Monarchies, the Habsburgs of Austria Hungary, the Hohenzollerns of Germany, the Romanovs of Russia, the Osmanlis of the Ottoman Empire, and the Aisin Gioros of China, were All Brought Down by A Spectacular Chain Reaction of Events that were Unprecedented in an Earlier Age. This Deep Dive Video tells the Story of How these Five Dynasties, Who at the Beginning of the 20th Century Controlled the Fates of A Third of the World’s Population, Lost their Power through the Series of Wars and Revolutions that Marked One of the Most Chaotic Periods in Human History, which Included World War I, the Chinese and Russian Revolutions and Much More.

There is A Companion Video to this One, Specifically Dealing with the July Crisis that began World War I https://youtu.be/ZO2Kvr_idPE

In July 1914, the Assassination of the Heir to the Throne of Austria Hungary, Franz Ferdinand, in Sarajevo, Lit the Fuse that Burned Down to the Outbreak of the Most Destructive War in History Up to that Time. How did iIHappen? The Story is A Very Complex Web of Politics, Diplomacy, Ethnic Rivalry, Psychology and Technology. In this Video, We’ll Trace Exactly How the July Crisis Developed, What was at Stake, and How All the Major Powers of Europe Got Pulled into A War that Seemed Almost Unthinkable A Month Earlier, at Least, Unthinkable to Some.

The Sandwich that did Not Start World War I

Published 26 sep 2023

Sean Munger

On June 28, 1914, Gavrilo Princip, A 19 Year Old Bosnian Serb Nationalist, Aassinated Archduke Franz Ferdinand on A Sarajevo Street Corner. This Event Ultimately Triggered the Outbreak of World War I. You may Have Heard that the Only Reason Princip was in the Right Place to Kill the Archduke was Because he Stepped into A Deli to Get A Sandwich at A Lucky Moment. The Story Actually is Not True, but It’s Widely Believed and Often Repeated, Especially on the Internet, as If It is. In this Video We’ll Examine the Sandwich Myth, How we Know That it’s Most Likely Untrue, How and Exactly When it Got into Franz Ferdinand Assassination Lore, and Why Setting the Record Straight Matters. This is A Uniquely Seductive Historical Myth, but Where it Came from Might Surprise you.
