Like many stars who become jadee by their situation, Britney wanted the song, “Mona Lisa” to be her way of telling the world, that she was cloned….

1. Mona Lisa was Britney’s special project…

Spears was supposed to be on a break from music following a knee injury in July 2004 during the music video shoot for “Outrageous,” which led to the cancellation of her The Onyx Hotel Tour. A compilation album Greatest Hits: My Prerogative dropped in November, leaving Britney time to focus on family with now ex-husband Kevin Federline. She was really itching to release “Mona Lisa,” her sort of grim sequel to 2000′s “Lucky,” that December to KIIS-FM.

During the interview with the L.A. radio station, Spears revealed that “Mona Lisa” was written and recorded with live instruments that year while on The Onyx Hotel Tour. She also emphasized that it was a rough mix and hoped the track would lead a new album in the following year tentatively titled The Original Doll.

The Original Doll never saw the light of day but “Mona Lisa” was eventually mastered for a quiet release as a B-side on the Britney & Kevin: Chaotic DVD in September 2005. “Toxic” producers Bloodshy & Avant touched up the track with a dark electronic edge. Spears told the story of Mona Lisa, a woman grappling with fame in the public eye. “They want her to break down / Be a legend of her fall,” she sang, chillingly prophesying her own downward spiral to come in 2007. Britney even included a moment of silence on this introspective and defiant gem buried in her vast discography.

“Mona Lisa” would mean so much more to Spears after that KIIS-FM premiere. She adopted the title as an alter-ego for herself that December while co-directing the “Do Somethin’” music video, something the singer fought to release. Britney revealed the news to fans in a letter posted on her website. Before Twitter existed, she would write openly and seemingly unchecked on there along with previewing new song clips. One track in particular named “Rebellion” featured the telling lyric: “But in rebellion, there’s a sparkle of truth.”

2. Review this fascinating info on Britney Spear’s special “Mona Lisa” project in which she wanted to tell the world she was cloned…

The KIIS-FM offices in Burbank, Calif., were nearly deserted the day Britney Spears called. It was December 2004, just before New Year’s Eve, and Jesse Lozano was filling in for the regular host, who was on vacation. “Britney Spears is on the phone,” he was told. “She says she wants to play her new song.” Lozano thought it was a prank. “Usually, you don’t believe that,” he told BuzzFeed in March. But an hour later, the singer was outside the station’s Burbank studio with a bodyguard, her chihuahua, and, Lozano recalled, no shoes. “She had a CD with her and said, ‘Can we play it on the air?’” “Britney Spears live in studio! Do you have to take a super-secret CIA mission-secure route to Burbank from your crib so you don’t get followed?” Lozano asked. “No!” “I didn’t see anybody outside.” “I know! It’s awesome.” “I walked out there, there wasn’t one camera anywhere.” “I know, it’s great!” “Well thanks for hanging tonight. Good luck with your album. It’s untitled.” “It’s probably going to be called Original Doll, so…” “And it’s half done?” “Yeah. It’s halfway done right now.” “Alright, so maybe by the summer? Maybe by the fall?” “Yeah, yeah maybe a little bit earlier.” They came back from commercial break. Spears introduced the song she’d come to play, “Mona Lisa.” It was the first and last time “Mona Lisa” would be on the radio. A representative for Jive, her record label, told Billboard a week later the song wouldn’t be serviced to radio, and “no album is scheduled at the moment.”

“Mona Lisa”

[Spoken intro:]

This is the story about Mona Lisa

The Mona Lisa

Ladies and gentlemen, I’ve got a little story to tell
About Mona Lisa, and how she suddenly fell
See, everyone knew her, they knew her oh so well
Now I am taking over to release her from her spell

She’s the original,
She’s unforgettable
She wants you to know (yeah) she’s been cloned
It’s kind of incredible
She’s so unpredictable (yeah, yeah)
She wants you to know (yeah) she’s been cloned, she’s been cloned, she’s been cloned

She was taken under, drowning in her seat
Running like an angel, she was crying and could not see (oh, no!)
Now see everyone’s watching as she starts to fall
They want her to break down
There will be a legend of her fall.

Ladies, does that make you cry?
Mona Lisa’s got to fly
Nobody really does
Everyone, may we have a moment of silence right here?

[Chorus 2x]

Britney Spears song Mona Lisa from her unreleased album The Original Doll.

This song remains property of Britney Spears and Sony Music, Jive/RCA records.

3. Not convinced? Her new project was to be called, “Original Doll”!!!

4. Record company denies the song exists… WHEN IT DOES!!!

“She’s the original, she’s unforgettable, she wants you to know she’s been cloned,” so it’s no wonder her team didn’t want it going mega-vi. Now Britney’s label claims this album doesn’t exist and she was “never working on it.”

5. Also… from same source (… her management simply sought to confuse the public on the issue.

The studio even told the public about the cloning with the New Britney’s music video for “Break The Ice.”

It’s been a while
I know I shouldn’t have kept you waiting
But I’m here now

I know it’s been a while
But I’m glad you came
And I’ve been thinking ‘bout
How you say my name
You gotmy body spinning
Like a hurricane
And it feels like
You got me going insane
And I can’t get enough
So let me get it up

  1. You have a lot of this wrong.her label has talked about this song.they even released it as a bside.a lot of songs artists create never make it to a cd.
She changed the lyrics to “shes been cloned” they were not the original lyrics which shows thats not an important part of the song to her.
Shes making fun of the conspiracy theory that she was cloned when she supposedly died in the car crash with jt.
You are obviously not a fan and just a moron.
