English summary

In a proverb from the Maaskant (Dutch Limburg), the devils are making the rounds, in Spain, in La Coruña in Galicia, the devil comes with a pitch-fork, and when it rains and there is moon he hangs out around La Coruña. Or with sun and rain he goes to Ferrol, but with moon and rain he goes to La Coruña. Or he goes to Gijón, as they say in Gijón in Asturia, or he climbs up to Trech with his iron stave.
In Galicia, a quite immodest repertoire has developed concerning the devil’s visit to Ferrol: he goes loaded with pitch-forks to stab people, or he is loaded with (a sack of) pins to pinch or stab in female private parts (according to Kuusi; or in their bottoms) or he goes to Ferrol to pinch women with needles and pins, or he has a bag full of pins to prick the women and a bag of needles to prick the witches. In Rumania, the gypsies are pricking on the market, making the chemise hop.
In Auvergne-Limousin, the devil sulphurs his fur; they also say that it is the time of the devil.
