Bennett, the Titular FIEND OF DOPE ISLAND, Rules Supreme with an “Iron” Whip While Skipper Bray Sits Around Scowling. Everybody Else on the Island is Either Drunk or Stoned Right from the Get Go. Into This Tropical Hell Comes the World Famous Blonde Dancer, Lori Laverne, Yugoslavian Bomb Shell TANIA VELLA. A Band Suddenly Appears, with Boss Maniac Bennett on Congo Drums, and the Unwitting Ms Laverne Gradually Realizes She S Being Set Up for Whipping and Some Hot Topless Flashing, Quite Shocking for 1961!

Bennett Who Co Wrote This Thing, is Completely Berserk in the Title Role, He Doesn T Just Chew Up the Scenery, He Swallows It Whole, Vomits It Back Out, and Chews It Right Up Again. Picture Karloff S Frankenstein Trying to Imitate Lash LaRue On the Set of MESA OF LOST WOMEN. Let S Pause for A Moment of Sobering Reflection on Leading Male Bray, Who Already Looks Ten Years Too Old to Even Be Starring in This Dubious Debacle, Let Alone Landing the Choice Lead on Lassie A Few Years Later. The Fact that This Hunk of Human Driftwood Squeezed Even One Paycheck Out of the Entertainment Industry, Let Alone A Series, Has Baffled me for Decades. Anyway, Bray, Looking Like A Cross Mutation between Hugh Beaumont and Jock Mahoney, Escapes with Ms Laverne While the Island Doctor Slips Bennett Enough Bug Juice to Knock Out an Elephant. A Native Girl Gives Birth to the Irrepressible Baby Gonzalez and Tania Celebrates by Swimming Topless with Bray. Bennett Barges In and is Forced to “Dance” While Half A Dozen Villagers Take Potshots at his Feet. He Returns the Favor by Snaring Bray and Tania with His Agile Whip, Then Uses Their Lithe Limbs for Target Practice. Eventually, This All Gets Out of Control, No Kidding, Leading to A Native Rebellion, A Shark Infested, Pulse Pounding Climax, and the Delightful Ken Darby Ballad, “Forever Hold Me.”
