GALLUP: Two Thirds of Americans Condemn US ‘System of Government’
“Today, 33% of Americans Express Some Level of Satisfaction with How Well their System of Government Works,” Gallup reported on March 5th. On February 22nd, Gallup euphemistically headlined “Americans Offer Anemic State of the Nation Report” and mentioned, way down in their report, that “Satisfaction With US System of Government” had peaked in 2002 at 76%, right after the 9/11 attacks, and declined gradually to 35% in 2012, and then gradually rose to 43% in 2020, at the end of Trump’s Presidency, and then suddenly plunged to its all-time low of 27% in 2021, during Biden’s first year, and it rose to 33% in 2023 and stayed there at 33% in Gallup’s 2024 survey, which is their latest. So, as of now, 67% of Americans want to change their “System of Government.”
The question that Gallup asked was about satisfaction or not with “Our System of Government and How Well it Works” and thus measured, in the most direct way, any public sentiment that might exist to overthrow and replace America’s “System of Government,” and this question goes well beyond what any other surveyed question does. Even to contemplate it is radical, but here Gallup was actually Asking it. It wasn’t asking about merely a change in the Government, but about the System of Government. By a 2 to 1 margin, Americans want to change That. Other polls have shown that.
Back on 22 January 2014, Gallup headlined “In US, 65% Dissatisfied with How Government System Works: Republicans and Independents Most Likely to Be Dissatisfied”, and reported that whereas this “Dissatisfaction” was at its lowest point, only 23%, in 2002, it gradually rose to its highest point, 65%, in 2014. That’s essentially where it is now. Only among Democratic Party voters is the support high for the existing System of Government in the US. That report showed the complete question, which Gallup asked, “Please Say Whether You are Very Satisfied, Somewhat Satisfied, Somewhat Dissatisfied, or Very Dissatisfied with our System of Government and How Well it Works.” The “% Very/Somewhat Satisfied” peaked for Republicans at 79% in 2005 as they continued to believe George W Bush’s lies that Iraq had been six months away from having a nuclear weapon, whereas only 50% of Non Republicans did. But Democrats’ “% Very | Somewhat satisfied” stayed remarkably stable near the 50% mark throughout the entire period until Joe Biden came into office, when only 42% of Democrats, and 22% of Republicans, were satisfied with “Our System of Government and How Well it Works.” This sudden decline in support among Democrats for America’s “System of Government” suggests that even Democrats are finally Starting to consider the possibility that what America need now is no longer evolutionary but instead revolutionary change. This is a gradual, or evolutionary, movement in the direction of supporting overthrow and replacement of the US Federal Government and not merely replacing particular politicians and or bureaucrats. Apparently, this radicalizing trend started in or around 2002, and might now, for the first time, be rising even amongst Democratic Party voters, who, until 2021, were around 50% favorable toward “Our System of Government and How Well it Works.” So, that’s a major change.
In 2018, Gallup International, which broke away from America’s Gallup organization, published their massive “2018 Opinion Poll in 58 Countries across the Globe”, which shows on the 33rd of the PDF’s 80 pages, the answers within each one of the 58 countries to their question “To What Extend[t] are You Satisfied with the Current Government in your Country?” In America, 24% were “Satisfied” and 59% were “Dissatisfied.” In Russia, 31% were “Satisfied” and 43% were “Dissatisfied.” In Finland, 29% were “Satisfied” and 57% were “Dissatisfied.” In France, 12% were “Satisfied” and 68% were “Dissatisfied.” However, in Saudi Arabia, 93% were “Satisfied” and 5% were “Dissatisfied.” That’s an absolute monarchy in a Sunni fundamentalist Islamic country. However, who are better qualified to rate their Government than the people who are living there? People who never did? Obviously not. China was not among the 58 countries. However, All of the scientific measures, a wide variety of polls regarding how the Chinese people feel about China’s Government and about Xi jinping personally, find that the Chinese, on the question of Approve versus Disapprove of China’s Government and of Xi Jinping, indicate that over 80% approve, and this is what a reasonable person would Expect to find because, for example, the World Bank shows that while Xi has Been in Power since the End of 2012 until the End of the Year 2022, the Latest Year for which the World Bank has Calculated This, China’s PPP GDP grew 100%, it doubled during that decade, while India’s rose 93%, the EU’s rose 58%, America’s rose 56%, Russia’s rose 49%, much less than it would have risen if Obama hadn’t been pouring sanctions against Russia starting in 2012, South Korea’s rose 30%, and Japan’s rose 19%. The Entire World’s grew 63% during that decade. So, of all those economies, only China and India did better than the global average.
As I documented on 22 August 2022, “NATO Affiliated Poll in 53 Countries finds Chinese the Most Think Their Country is A Democracy”. The US was worse than average, and was tied at N°‘s 40 and 41, out of the 53 nations, with Colombia, at 49%. Less than half its citizens thought that they lived in a democracy. By contrast, 83% of Chinese thought that they lived in a democracy. Furthermore, the 2022 Edelman Trust Barometer polls in 27 countries found that by far China’s people rated their Government, their media, their businesses, and their national health authorities, higher than did the people in any of the 26 other nations. The rating by Americans of America was in the bottom half of each of those four rankings. Russia was at the very bottom on 3 of the 4. However, Russia’s head of state, Putin, whom the US and its allies are determined to overthrow and replace, has averaged a 75% job approval rating throughout the 23 years he has been in power there, and America’s Presidents during that same period have averaged only a 50% job approval rating. So: what America’s Government wants to overthrow and replace in Russia is the one part of Russia’s Government that the Russian population respect and support and vote for overwhelmingly.
And yet, an even Higher percentage of Americans want the American “System of Government” to be changed, than want the Government to be changed, think that it’s NOT a democracy. It’s no longer that America’s citizens want merely better People in Government, but, even More than that, they want a better System of Government. They want Radical change, change not just in the rulers, but in the System that Produces those rulers. Is this situation like what had produced the American Revolution in 1776?
In any case, the US Government, which leads the Regime Change operations and Wars throughout the World, the most recently revealed US coup being headlined at The Gray Zone on 1 March 2024, “Secret Cable, CIA Orchestrated Haiti’s 2004 Coup”, is rated by its Own citizens, and increasingly, as being desperately in need of being overthrown and replaced. So, it’s a bad model for any country to emulate. Based upon this evidence, resisting such a Government makes much more sense than emulating it, from the standpoint of the citizenries of other countries. Probably the US Government and its agents will find ways to suppress this news report, which is being distributed to 200 news organizations around the world. But it summarizes not the views of its writer but instead the views of the populations in many countries throughout the world. That is the news it reports. But whether it is news that will be published is another matter. After all, if a ‘News’ organization exists in order to hide what news Not to report, such as this, and probably that news report at The Gray Zone, too, then how good is it, and how bad is it? Is it patriotic? Or is it instead traitorous, not only to the nation, but to the very Possibility of democracy itself?

Investigative historian Eric Zuesse’s latest book, AMERICA’S EMPIRE OF EVIL, Hitler’s Posthumous Victory, and Why the Social Sciences Need to Change, is about how America took over the world after World War II in order to enslave it to US and allied billionaires. Their cartels extract the world’s wealth by control of not only their ‘News’ media but the social ‘Sciences’, duping the public.
