Spirit Matters | Conversations on Contemporary Spirituality – Interview: Anneke Lucas

Gepubliceerd op 16 jul. 2018

Anneke Lucas was born in Belgium where she was sold into a sex trafficking ring at the age of six. She was abused and tortured extensively before she escaped at age eleven. After living in London, Paris and New York as a young adult, she moved to Los Angeles where she began therapy, yoga and meditation. She is now Executive Director of Liberation Prison Yoga, a New York-based non-profit she founded in 2014. The program brings yoga and insights about trauma to people behind bars. An advocate for sex trafficking survivors, Anneke speaks on the subject at various venues (see her TEDx talk here). She is writing a book about her healing journey, titled Seeds Beneath the Snow: Post Traumatic Growth and Purpose in Dark Times. We spoke about her harrowing story, her insights into trauma and her experience teaching yoga to prisoners. Learn more about Anneke Lucas here:
